How to get there

| By road: from the South |
Take the M6 to junction 43, signed A69 to Hexham. Follow this
road for just over 6 miles, through Warwick Bridge and Corby Hill, until you come to a roundabout
where the Brampton bypass and Hexham are signed to the right. Continue straight on at this point,
and after a mile you come to a T-junction. Turn right here, and then, after 200 yards, the A6071
for Longtown and Gretna is a very sharp left turn off the main street. Oakwood Park is on the
right hand side, about half a mile along the Longtown Road, just beyond the end of the 30 mph limit, as
you leave Brampton. |
| By road: from the East |
Travel along the A69 west of Haltwhistle and over the moor until you descend through some woodland just East of Brampton. The turn off for the town is signed also for the A6071. Continue for about a mile and a half, through the town centre, until you come to the signed turning to the right for the Longtown Road. Oakwood Park is about half a mile along the Longtown Road, just beyond the end of the 30 mph limit, as you leave Brampton. |
| By road from Scotland (A74 or A7) |
Turn off the southbound A74 at Gretna. The junction is signed for
the A6071 to Longtown. The A6071 joins the A7 just north of Longtown. If you have travelled
down the A7 from Hawick you will also come to this point. Turn right, over the Esk and into the main
street of the town. Continue over the first pedestrian crossing (traffic lights) in the town centre
for around 200 yards until shortly before the further set of lights, where the A6071 turns left, signed
to Brampton (11 miles). As you approach Brampton there is a narrow bridge over the river Irthing,
with traffic light control. A mile beyond this is a narrow lane on the left, followed 100 yards
later by the gates for the Hotel. |

| By train: |
Although Brampton has a station, it is some 2 miles to the southeast
of the town. It is unmanned, and there are no taxi facilities there. An alternative is to
travel on the far more regular services to Carlisle. Travellers intending to arrive by train are
advised to liaise concerning appropriate transport from the station. |
